Dream Animals
is an online project I created during the pandemic in my hometown of Dalian. Unable to travel and without models, I began sculpting animals that I frequently dreamed about during that time. Alongside the sculptures, I also exhibited the video “Seven Star Road,” which I completed at home. Due to social distancing requirements, I gradually became accustomed to observing life and others from a distance, a method akin to how I lived at the time. Life became like a jigsaw puzzle, the more we tried to piece it together, the faster it fell apart. I decided to let it be what it wanted to be; missing a train isn't necessarily a sad event. What matters is to treat oneself seriously and to be honest. I also displayed some texts I wrote casually alongside my sculptures, allowing the words and sculptures to accompany each other. Here are three sketches of my sculptures.
